The last week of January I was peeking at JW Marriott Indianapolis twitter account and read that they are they largest JW Marriott in the world. Mmmm…I took a virtual trip over to Marriott’s website and found a news release dated 2/7/11 claiming it is the world’s largest JW. Kinda cool. When I stayed at the hotel in November of last year, I thought it was big but did not know it was the largest. Now I think JW Indy should build a few more stories to claim fame to the world’s tallest hotel instead of JW Marriott Marquis in Dubai. Surely Indianapolis has more high spenders than Dubai to make it profitable.
Anyway, I decided this is a good time to post pictures and tidbits from my hotel stay. I don’t have a lot of pictures because I accompanied Mr. Map on a work function and he didn’t want me snapping a lot pictures with his boss.
JW Marriott Indianapolis
First let me say this hotel is beautiful and the friendly staff is some of the best I have met. At check-in a staff member actually walked from behind the desk to greet me. He gave me an overview of hotel amenities and walked me to the elevator. Here is the real kicker – he smiled the entire time while maintaining eye contact. Yuppers, I think he was a happy worker too. You don’t see that every every hotel.
Internet: Wireless internet was good and not spotty. It was available in the room for a fee though complimentary for gold and platinum members. You can avoid the WiFi charge by hanging out in the lobby, restaurant or in-house Starbucks.
Room: As noted in my account preferences, I received a high floor. This gave me a beautiful view of downtown Indianapolis. Room was clean, fresh smelling and nicely appointed albeit on the smaller side. Furnishing is typical Marriott style (consistent) with a pull-out table/desk, chair, flat screen TV, padded chair, comfy bed with fluffy comforter and lots of pillows.
Concierge Lounge: Woot – open on the weekends! I didn’t eat breakfast because I had an early flight and I don’t like eating breakfast first thing in the morning. I need an hour or two to sip on a cup of java with my favorite french vanilla cream.
That’s it – short and sweet just like my hotel stay at JW Marriott Indy.
