At times promotions to earn cash bonuses, airline miles and hotel points might seem small and not worth the hassle. But these promotions will add up and grow your account balance, simply for taking a few minutes to participate.
Think of small earning promotions as saving money from each paycheck or a coupon for a free box of cereal. As a one time event, the savings isn’t huge. But if you combine these savings a bunch of times, you start to see a big difference. Scroll down this page to see an example for Small Amounts Matter.
Small amounts add up to larger amounts is one of the reasons I’m signing up my kiddies for Iberia Plus new kids program.
Iberia Plus Kids Program
Right now Iberia Plus is offering 2,500 free British Airways Avios points when you sign up your kids for their new Iberia Plus Kids Program. Once these Iberia Plus points have been in your child’s Iberia Account for 90 days, you can transfer these points to British Airways Executive Club.
After these points are in your kiddies British Airways Executive Club Account, you can combine accounts (points) within your household account. Through a household account, you can share these points with any person in your account.
As a reminder, you don’t have to fly British Airways or even Iberia Airlines. You can use your Avios points to fly American Airlines or any airline part of Oneworld Alliance.
Note: Oneworld member airlines include American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LAN, Malév Hungarian Airlines, Mexicana, Qantas, Royal Jordanian and S7 Airlines. Kingfisher Airlines and airberlin will join in the near future.
How To Sign Up for 2,500 Iberia Plus – British Airways Avios
- Print and fill out this PDF form from Iberia Plus Kids
- Send the completed form and copies of your child(s) passport using one of the following: email to firstname.lastname@example.org; fax to 913742707; or mail to Apdo. de Correos 62033-28080 Madrid.
Don’t wait too long – only children aged 2 to 11 who register before August 31st, 2012, will receive 2,500 Avios points.
Another Bonus To Increase Your Avios Points
If you are looking for more tips to boost your British Airways Executive Club account, consider this promotion:
Until June 20, 2012, British Airways Executive Club is offering 25% bonus points for transferring hotel points into Avios. Convert Hilton, Marriott, InterContinental Hotel Group, Carlson, Starwood, Hyatt, Shangri-Laor Accor points to British Airways Avios Points and get a 25% bonus.
Most people consider Starwood points and best option for transferring to airlines. Starwood (SPG Points) offers a bonus of 5,000 frequent flyer miles for every 20,000 SPG points transferred.
So, if I transfer 20,000 SPG points and stack the SPG 20% transfer bonus with British Airways 25% conversion bonus, I will end up with 31,250 Avios Points.
Small Amounts Matter Example
Combining British Airways Avios Point Promotions to Add Up To Larger Balance. Let’s take a quick look at a couple of promotions that offered a few points, but add up over time.
- A couple of years ago, American Express ran a promotion offering 5,000 Avios points for transferring 1,000 AMEX Points.
- Earlier this year BMI Midland offered 2,000 points (now BA Avios from merging).
- Iberia Promotion for 2,500 Avios
5,000 British Airways/AMEX Bonus
+1,000 AMEX Transfer
+2,000 BMI Promo
+2,500 Iberia Promo
10,500 Avios Points for one account
x 6 Person Maximum in BA Executive Club Household Account
63,000 British Airways Avios Points
That’s enough Avios points for a family of 4 to fly round-trip from Chicago to Orlando, Florida for visiting Cinderella, Mickey and the gang at Disney.
To make you dizzy with more numbers, if I combine the hotel transfer bonus with Small Points Matter Example above, I will have 41,750 Avios Points. Check out The Points Guy for comprehensive guides to British Airways Avios Points.
