Pizza Hut, Tebow and Dr Seuss

Tim Tebow Pizza Hut

I’m finally done tinkering with my blog design (thoughts?) and need something entertaining. Luckily Tim Tebow stepped up to the plate for storytime. Whether you like him or not, you’re gonna smile listening to a big football player reading Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss.

America’s Biggest Storytime

America’s Biggest Storytime was created in 2007 by the BOOK IT! Program in response to research that revealed that nearly half of all American parents (48 percent of those responding to a BOOK IT! Program survey) do not have a nightly tradition of reading to their kids before bed.

Tim Tebow has partnered with BOOK IT!, the reading incentive program sponsored by Pizza Hut, to host America’s Biggest Storytime, an annual celebrity webcast to motivate children to read more and to help develop a lifelong love of reading.

How to Participate with Storytime

Readers can join in by logging on to on today, February 15 starting at 8 a.m. CST. The webcast will be available online through Feb. 22.

Pizza Hut BOOK IT!

BOOK IT! is a reading program established by Pizza Hut to encourage kids to read more. This program is available for most schools – public, private school, virtual and homeschool with kids in grades K-6.

BOOK IT! runs every school year from October through March. The teacher sets a reading goal for each student and uses a tracking chart. As soon as a child meets the monthly reading goal, the teacher gives him or her a Reading Award Certificate aka coupon for a free 1-topping personal pan pizza. (Great deal for cutting the cost when traveling.)

Quick Travel Tip: I first ran across this program when I was exploring home school for my preschooler. I registered and continue to receive the program material.  Next registration will begin March, 2012 for 2012-13 school year. These certificates are a great way for lowering out-of-pocket costs when traveling.  As a final note, I’m glad the kids at Teenager’s school stopped Tebowing.
