A few weeks ago I met a new cracker – Wheat Thins Stix Cinnamon Kick. It happened when I was desperate for a quick child friendly travel snack. I tried the cracker, my kids tried it, and then I wrote a review on it. This cracker slowly became our trusted and convenient go-to cracker.
When the boxes first arrived, I was excited yet nervous. My husband and kids examined the box said, “crack ‘em open.” I clumsily gathered my review supplies – camera, old white blanket, never used 8×13 glass casserole pan, kitchen stool and spiral notebook leftover from last year school supplies.
We took a vote and Chipotle Pepper Cracker Stix’s won as the first to sample. I slowly but carefully poured the cylinder shaped biscuits into the clear pan. I explained that I had to place them in the pan to discover how many crackers were in the box and if they could maintain their shape during long road trips.
Each of us reached for a cracker and sank our teeth into the long stick. The first bite is mellow with nominal Chipotle flavoring but was crunch and crispy. We took a few more bites to acquaint our taste buds with our new cracker. We slowly discovered that this rolled-up wheat thin offers a unique cumulative flavor. This Chipotle Pepper Stix is a serious teaser cracker. It starts out mellow but rapidly grows into a hot and spicy treat. Nabisco should change their marketing program to “Cracker Stix’s with a Kick!”
I had to have more people meet my cracker. This is no ordinary cracker. I needed to put this hot and spicy rolled-up Wheat Thin through another more taste testing. I reached for my calendar and saw an upcoming swim team meet where hundreds of men, women and kids of all ages would be assembled. I put both crackers back in my box and patiently waited for the swim meet to arrive.
When the big unveiling day arrived for my cracker demonstration, my heart was pounding. This group is known to be tough critics and I wasn’t sure if they would welcome a newcomer. With the help of my family, I formed two groups. Group Number 1 was for adults to sample the Wheat Thins Chipotle Pepper Stix. Group Number 2 were kids ranging in age 5 to 18 to test their taste buds with the Wheat Thins Honey Wheat Stix. Both fearless groups were asked to offer feedback while they munched on the crackers. I busily wrote their comments in my old spiral notebook which I now present to you.
